Horned melon also known as the melano.It is native to Sub-Saharan Africa and also grows in California California, Mississippi, Chili, Australia and New Zealand. It has horn-like spines,hence the name ''horned melon''.When fruit ripe,It has yellow-orange skin and lime green,jelly like flesh with a tart taste,similar like a cucumber.Some people eat the peel,which is very rich in Vitamin and dietary fiber. The fruit can used in cooking,but when eaten raw most suck out the pulp and spit out the seed.
